What does it mean when a close friend says "it is an honor to hear this from you" ?

I gave a compliment and my friend responded with that sentence.

    They were pleased to hear that compliment especially from you.

    it means that they get a lot os bs compliments from other people, so t hear it from you they know its genuine. or, you dont often compliment people and when you do, you mean it
