Workout Ideas?

So I'm 19, female, and beginning my enlistment for the Navy. I will probably have somewhere between 3-6 months before basic training (I haven't done MEPS yet, probably will next week), and I'll be going from zero activity to boot camp-ready in that time. I would like to ship out as soon as I can while still being ready physically. I've looked at some of the SEALS workouts online, but they're around 26 weeks, so I'm trying to figure out how to condense those workouts, or if it would be better to wait so I can be more prepared. Anyone have thoughts?

Do 20 pushups, 20 sit-ups, and 20 mountain climbers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyeZM-_VnRc) a day for 2 weeks. Run a mile a day (4 laps around a standard high school track). Then up each by 20 every two weeks. After two weeks running a mile a day go up one mile. You will be ready for bootcamp...(Former NAVY corpsman here)...good luck! GO NAVY!!!

Oops I forgot to mention scissor kicks. 20 of those daily. While laying down, raise both feet two feet off ground, raise and lower each leg to vertical 90 and down for a count of twenty times for each leg. Your goal is to reach 100,and stay there...

  • Boot is mainly about running so that should be your focus...assuming you are a newbie start with trying to run at a modest pace and see how you do..I suggest starting at half a mile and run three times a week slowly working your way up...if you can't make your distance just walk until you get your breath back and then start running agin..overtime you'll walk less and run more...if you stay with it ( 3 times a wek) at some point you'll be able to run a mile at a decent pace, from there just start adding half a mile during one week and then add another 1/2 mile the following week...I think the navy PT run test is two miles (guys) so if you can get there at 9 minute miles that should be okay to handle boot just fine, if you want to keep running go for 3 miles and maybe even 4 miles...also after you have run 3 times a week for a couple months you can increase to run as often as your body feels good...4 or 5 days a week if you really want to get crazy fit but for the first couple months stick with no more than 3 times a week, you tendons and bones and muscles need time to adjust to the added stress...along the way you should start doing pushups, situps, leg raises/crunches and if you really want to get in shape add mountain climbers, bends & thrusts...good luck.
