So, we have an older dog that is being out down today. But, we also have another dog. Would you allow the other dog to be apart or not?

When my cats have died, I brought the body back for the other pets to see. It can be harder with a dog, but if your dog is small enough I would bring it home before surrendering for cremation. You can talk with the vet about this. I would not take the other dog to the vet clinic. It can be distracting and disturb the peaceful environment you want, and your other dog might just feel stressed about being at vet's.

I am so sorry for you at this very sad time. We just had our 16 year old cat put down, it was so hard. We didn't let any of our other pets be a part of it. However, we have been told that we should have brought him home for them to see. We were told it would help our other cat (his mate) and our three little dogs understand what happened. We didn't because we were having him cremated. Take from that what you will. Again, you have my sympathies.

First, my condolences to you. We just had our 11 y.o. dog euthanized last Tuesday. We considered bringing our other dog but decided against it. Expect your other dog to mourn the loss although some dogs don't. My dog was lethargic, didn't eat much and slept a lot. I walked him often and even hand fed him. I also gave him lots of extra attention and love. Your dog will appreciate your empathy. Good luck with this..
