When the pope dies and the library?

When the Pope dies, is there a certain section of the Vatican Library that is opened up of the documents that have been accumulated under his rule? I thought I once heard about this practice.

If your talking about the Vatican Archives most of the documents have not been reviewed by Church officials so much is still not open to public viewing. As for any documents which the current Pope has received they also get archived but will not be open to public viewing during that Pope's reign and 70 years after he had died or resigned from the office of St. Peter.

When a US president retires we build a special library just for him!

It just seems logical. When a pope dies, they take his letters and papers and put them in a box with his name on it for future reference. And they keep it in a library or archive. Why not? Being the authoritarian, hierarchical, top-down Catholic Church, they may go through the papers first to delete anything embarrassing.
