Best shrubs for large containers outside my local train station ?
I have been repairing some large wooden containers outside my local railway station in London and want to know what plants or shrubs would give an all year round display of foliage or flowers to cheer up local commuters ?

Phormium, cordyline, or dwarf conifer underplanted with bulbs such as crocus, daffodils and tulips which will come back each year, and plants such as pansies or violas whose happy smiling faces are sure to cheer commuters up even on the dullest of days.
