When Matthew mentions we shall be baptized in the name of the father the son and the holy spirit what does it mean?

its sounds like three individuals but these three are in Jesus and Jesus was worshipped when born and when resurrected. in acts it says they were baptized in Jesus name doesn't this in a way make sense doesnt that mean to be saved we need to be baptized in Jesus name because in him the diety was which is the father the son and the holy spirit which the apostle understood. because jesus is the mystery which the first testament talked about that would be revealed in the new testament. so trinitarians should be baptized in jesus name because we all need to accept that the deity was in Jesus and Jesus is our saviour and only he can save us because the diety is in him.

It would appear to be a trinitarian formula for baptism. Since the Trinity hadn't been invented yet, this has to be a later insertion. It would take the Church up to 325 to make the Trinitarian doctrine universal, and even then doubts were strong, such that they had to revisit the whole thing ca. 491.

Look at all of Chapter 28. You can see that the material slows nicely, and then suddenly it is a quick bit about one thing, something about something else, etc. Most of this chapter is probably a later insertion.

The link below will give an exhaustive list of scholarly sources, all of whom agree that the text you cite could not have been the words of Jesus, and they give several very solid reasons for such a skeptical view.

if you notice that the verse 28:19 in matthew reads ."In the name , not names showing that the father .son and holy spirit are 3 in 1 . the trinity

    Jesus is a MAN:

    CREATOR FATHER is GOD

    1. Jesus is the son of man;

    2. Christ(WORD)is the Son of God.

    3. Christ lived in Jesus as Christ can live in us.

Matthew 28:19-20 has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH WATER:

    19. Go ye therefore, and "TEACH" all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the HolyGhost(UNDERSTANDING):

    20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever (( I )) have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The word "baptizing" is a participle, not a verb. BAPTIZE in FIRE(GOSPEL teaching of Jesus only), NOT water.

The name of the Father(God), means: the Will of God, mind of God, word of God, Image of God, Thought of God, Christ, FIRE, GOSPEL, Desire of God, etc... Their names are the SAME because their wills(desire) are the same; They THREE agree.

Before Jesus Christ died and rose again the baptism was in the name of the God Father Son and Holy spirit. After Christ Jesus rose then it as we are now is into Christ Jesus. But baptism is a sign for testimony to others who we are identified with (Christ Jesus) When we believe in Christ as our saviour causing us to change our minds about our sin, we are baptised into him and imputed with the Holy spirit.

You must check this out in the Bible for your self though. Never take my word for anything.

well, ive been told that this was added by the catholic church, there is another verse which doesnt mention all three to be baptized. what i have come to conclude is: no matter what truth is disclosed or published in public, there is always someone or something that lies about the truth.

that means we are screwed. if they keep adding more people is less chance you get baptized correctly and at the time they finish mentioning all those names, a tsunami can show up and wipe everybody away.

The Godhead, although composed of three distinct individuals, is such a close unit, so "one" in purpose, thought, character and purpose, it is saying what applies to all applies to each one, and what applies to one applies to all three. Jesus is "the Son". All that makes God, God, is seen in him. Humans have to look no where else other than to Jesus, for that is looking to all of God.

It is absurdity. Both Jesus and God are spirit persons.
