Does baptism alone save you?

i feel it alone doesn't it just unites you to Christ through faith as a pact but it alone doesnt save you because one can lose ones faith. i think that is why the bible says ones faith in Chirst is what saves you and then to officially announce that you have faith you are baptist as a pact to Chirst that you belong to him. Because if we see what the bible says it says those with faith will be saved not all who are baptized will be saved. Hmm i have never gotten so deep in the bible as this year

    No.

    Mark 16:16

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

We first believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, then the baptism is the act of washing away our sins (Acts 2:38). Then we continue to walk in the light that God gives us. Baptism alone is just taking a bath, and that's why baptizing infants is not useful for anything. Also, if you refuse to be baptized, you put yourself at risk of disbelieving God's way of salvation. God is love and wants us to follow Him to have peace, joy and victory in all things. God bless.

The Bible teaches that we are saved by many things. Some examples are: grace (Eph. 2:5), mercy (Titus 3:5), Jesus (Acts 4:12), His blood (Rev. 1:5), the Holy Spirit (John 3:5), the word (James 1:21), faith (Eph. 2:8), repentance (Acts 2:38), confession (Rom. 10:9,10) and baptism (1 Pet. 3:21).

We must not neglect the importance of any of these.

The fact of the matter, NO, baptism can't save anyone, only the grace of God, as it is written by grace ye are saved, also it is written No man comes to the father but through the son Jesus Christ, he did all the work before the foundation of the world, that is why he is called the lamb slain before the foundation of the world.

No. Without Confession and Repentance (the dying to your old ways) then baptism for the removal of your sins, then living faithfully each day, you are lost. Faith without works is dead. So baptism without a commitment is worthless.

Not only does "baptism alone" NOT save you, it has nothing to do with salvation, other than it is a testimony, a declaration that you believe in Jesus. Let's keep this simple: did the repentant thief on the cross get baptized? Or, did he follow the rule that the Apostle Paul gave in Romans 10:9,10:

"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

Let's review what that thief did (Matt 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, John 19):

    1. He called Jesus "Lord" with his mouth.

    2. He declared that he was a sinner and deserving of being crucified.

    3. He said that Jesus was not deserving of being crucified, because Jesus is blameless.

    4. He acknowledged that Jesus would be "raised from the dead" because he asked Jesus to "remember me when you get to Your Kingdom" (obviously following the certainty of death on the cross).

    5. Jesus declared that that repentant thief would-be with Him in paradise that very day.

The life death and resurrection of Jesus saves you. (Is faith necessary?) The graces of this are communicated to you through the sacrament of Baptism.

Baptism is not magic or an empty ceremony.

you are to believe on Jesus (know He died for your sins and ask Him to save you)

    and be baptized.

Baptism is the outward expression of an inward decision (which is to follow Jesus)

    No.

Mk 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Belief in Jesus is also necessary.

Baptism is a mere ritual. Rituals are inert.

Funny some Christians claim this, since they claim a desire for immorality is why atheists "choose" not to believe in God.
