I don't know if it would be correct to say "again". That would imply that there had been a time when they weren't causing problems. There's a long history of that though, and not just in the US. Just read about what the Anabaptists (Lutheran sect) pulled off in Munster, Germany in the 1500's....

No it is not the real Christians but it is the so called "Christians". They want everyone to comply with their belief, in truth there is only one we can get into Heaven and that is ourselves. We can show others the Christian Path but they have to walk it. In some ways these Christians are like the Muslims who try to hurt non-believers, it has not got that bad here but the slope is slick.

I haven't seen any Protestants flying jetliners into skyscrapers, so "out of control" may be a bit much.
