I rebuilt my gs550 engine, put it back and now have good compression, all electrics seem right, carbs were cleaned and it still won't start?

All seems to be fine on my bike now. It started and idled at 900 revs. I then switched it off and couldn't start it again. The engine turns over well but it doesn't seem as if it is connecting with the spark as it's not even trying to start.

Spark is good, compression is good, engine turns over well, carbs are clean, fresh petrol in tank, pit oak cleaned and working, petrol filter on petrol line, it started previously.

What do I need to check next to get it running???

What do the spark plugs look like after attempting to start (dry or wet)? Spray a wee bit of ether in the intake to help you diagnose. It should try to start and even run for a few seconds and should remain running on a little ether but don't do this too much it does wash down the cylinder walls if you over use it. If it runs on ether go after a fuel issue - float levels set correctly, fuel in bowls etc. If all that checks out make sure you are still getting a hot blue spark.

    Timing or air supply.

btw GS engines really do not run well without the airbox attached, it is possible to run with pod filters but takes ages to set up.

No petrol? Stuck float valve? Petcocks? Crap in the tank?
