Is it possible to buy a damascus gun?

Obviously the barrel would need to be standard ordinance steel but it seems like there's nothing stopping receivers etc from being built of eye catching damascus steel.

Yes, Damascus still has a charm. Old Damascus shotguns are not for modern ammo...just a novelty.

Damascus can be made in minutes what used to take weeks by the village blacksmith. You can buy thousands of layers designs for way cheaper than 35 years ago compared to $100 a running inch for knife making material.

You may be able to find a foundry forged receiver out of Damascus but I haven`t looked for any. It is showing up on pistols and still just a cosmetic thing rather than practical.

I like Damascus in knives but a high quality stainless in the 400 series is better for use. So, yes, to the possibility.

Outrageous statement from me: (IF) someone were to make a Damascus billet lower for AR-15 builders then I would pay up to $400 for one

that came 80% complete. Yes, I am somewhat of a sucker for that kind of stuff.

You can get a receiver/slide with a Damascus style look to it. It won't be true Damascus but will mimic it cosmetically.

They already make damascus steel guns. Google 'Damascus 1911' and oggle to your heart's content.

The biggest thing preventing them from being commonplace is the fact that they cost a fortune. Even a cheap one, like from Caspian, is almost $1000 just for the single slide piece and has a year long lead time. And then, you have to pay someone to hand fit the slide to your gun.

Anything is possible. You can buy a gun made of paper mache if you want.
