what do you think of the pledge of alligance?

I'm not trying to be a hater and ban it in schools or anything. But why are we forcing them to do it. If they don't want to do it they don't have to. When i see the pledge of allegiance it reminds me of a cult. Does anybody else think this too?

The Pledge is fine. But it represents a voluntary committment or it is meaningless. Trying to force people -- including children -- to do that is both morally wrong and pointless. You cannot compel what is in a person's heart. Only a fool attempts to delude themselves by trrying

Students are obligated to stand up and face the flag but saying the pledge is voluntary.

Pledging allegiance to the flag is pledging allegiance to the country. It does not pledge allegiance to any person/people or to what our leaders are doing.

Something we have said for over 60 years is all of the sudden a "Cult"? Grow up liberal child!

I think it is very important for everyone to pledge your allegiance to America every day.

America is the cult of freedom.

You have no idea what living without freedom is.

I think we should bring back using the Roman salute whilst reciting it.

It is a citizens duty to have allegiance to their nation. Children should be taught this is a privilege not a punishment

I know what you mean. You are not an American so you want to be an honest Communist.

It means a lot when I recite it.
