Each disease has a natural history of progression ...it has a duration and pathogenesis through which it will take a course ...it is dependent on the disease itself ....if the natural history of any disease needs to be curbed we need medicines ...for eg
If a previously healthy individual gets pneumonia it will take a period of 3 wks to a month till it gets resolved ...the person may recover or may succumb to the infection ...
But if intervention is done he will surely be disease free in about 2 wks with a huge decrease in mortality and morbidity
