I noticed today that occasionally my heart beats twice, as if my heart was racing really fast, but then returns to a normal pace?

I haven t really had any pain besides some chest pain very occasionally (not the often at all, I d say once every week-two weeks. It doesn t hurt or anything it is just weird that my heart has a double beat once every ten minutes or so?

This sounds rather like my own symptoms a few years ago. After many tests my Doctor told me I had a slightly Ectopic heart beat, which he said was normally not dangerous but that I should avoid excess Coffee. He prescribed a Beta-Blocker which I have now taken for years and it works very well, that is called Prenolol 25mg.

I suggest you see a Doctor for your own peace of mind, but don t panic. I believe it is all caused by a lack of Adrenaline increase at times of stress or sudden exertion, somehow overuse of Caffeine resets the normal hormone release mechanism. If I avoid Coffee entirely I don t need the Beta-Blocker, but I need Coffee to be sharp , or so it seems to me. Good luck and PLEASE don t let it get you down, its pretty normal .

PS - it was only a detailed heart beat analysis that showed up the skipped & extra beats , the first few simple tests totally missed it, as did less experienced Doctors I consulted years earlier when I first noticed it. I am now 63 and expect to reach at least 87, my family average. My Mum had the same issues and made it to 87.
