Can someone tell me the answer to this and tell me how they worked?

Find the area of these shapes.

A) is the top is 16 the left side is 14 the right is 9 and the bottom bit that is up more is 8.

B) is the top 22 left part under is 8 bottom is 8 right hand side is 30 right hand underneath is 6 and the side on the right is 6

    I'm assuming that all angles are right angles.

    area of 14 by 16 rectangle = 224

    area of 9 by 8 rectangle = 72

    area of shape = 224 - 72 = 224-72

    16 x 14 - 9 x 8..rectangle - rectangle ; ...you do B) ...again a rectangle + a rectangle..hard to see
