Today I found where 1 of our new hens is laying her eggs. I just went out and pulled a HUGE tumbleweed uncovering her and about 20 eggs.?
What do I do?? Do I move her to the coop and take the eggs? Move all of them someplace safer?? I thought we'd lost her a couple of weeks ago when she wasn't in the coop one night. Since then, we see her briefly- in the afternoon- every couple of days and figured she'd taken up sleeping with one of the neighbors flocks. Now that I realize she's been brooding over a nest, I don't know what to do? The others just lay their egg and then go on about their lives.

If you have an area ehre the broody hen can rest and have food water and some piles of hay then move her and all the eggs into this area since shes totally in brood action this allows her to be safe from preators and away from the rest of the hens .The others may try to move her off her clutch to lay their eggs this happens , If able move all to a safer place an inclosed area is great she will let you know when she wants out this gives her a safe area to relax and turn her eggs as neded and she will set on them with ease and no worry from others or the roo tryong to attack her as well. The poor hen was trying to hide her clutch and did a great job however you need to move all . ashe will make a loud fuss for sure however move them all together and make sure the hen finds the batch to finish sitting
I use a hut with a locking door for my broody hens this way she and the eggs are safe from other hens the roo and predators as well.
Good luck and soon you should have some tiny peeps.

Since we don't have a rooster, we moved her into the coop with the rest of the ladies. She wasn't too happy about it!! Dropped the eggs in water and when they all sunk, I threw them in the garbage. It took only about 2 days for her to get back into the groove of hanging out with the other hens- seems to have forgotten all about her clutch. Thank you for your help!! It helped :)
