What do you think of the name Hollow for a girl?
My grandmother's last name was Hollow and she recently died. My twin daughters will be born next week. We know the first born will be named Jane. Is Hollow a good name?

I'd use it as a middle name, I like the sound and the family connection makes it important, but I wouldn't give a child the first name of Hollow.

I don't really like Hollow for a child. Hollow means empty, and that's not great.
Maybe Jane Hollow and Lucy Hollow? You can use it for both of their middles.

Sorry but I do not think that Hollow would be a good name for a child. But since it has a sentimental meaning to you maybe you can use it as middle name. Having twin girls named Jane and Hollow would be weird, because one would have such a plain and common name and the other one would have such an uncommon and strange name.
You could also maybe use the name Holly for your other twin girl as I think that would still honor your grandma but in a way that would be better for your child.
Jane and Holly would be cute for twin girls.

Hollow is an awful first name, you could use it as an middle name

It's insulting to be called Hollow. If it's important to you, make it a middle name but not a first. Best wishes and God bless.

I'm sorry for the loss of your grandma; my grandpa recently died and it was heartbreaking. I don't like the name Hollow to be honest. The meaning of the word hollow is "empty" and the name reminds me of Halloween. What about Harlow, Willow, or Holly? They're similar and are also real names.
Jane and Harlow
Jane and Willow
Jane and Holly
Please reconsider naming your child Hollow. I understand you'd like to honor your grandmother but there are lots of ways to do that other than giving her surname to your child. It could be used as her middle name? Best of luck to you and your growing family xx

I think it would be odd for a first name and it means empty; not a great thing. Why not use it as a middle name. It is a nice way of honoring your granny.

I actually think Hollow is a very pretty name! It sounds good when paired with Jane. She would have a very unique name in a world where unique names barely exist anymore!
However if you're not sure about it, maybe use it as a middle name to still pay tribute to her. Changing it slightly could also be a good idea, such as: Harlow, Hallow or Holly. I especially like Harlow, it's a stunningly beautiful name and it sounds almost exactly like Hollow. It also sounds great with Jane.
Jane and Harlow :-)!
I really wanted to use my moms name as a middle name for my daughter, but wasn't fond of her name! Her name is Dawn, so I changed it to Fawn instead xx
