Are the Foo Fighters overrated by the media?

I don't find them overrated in fact I find them awesome but do I think the media and hardcore fans overrate them like every time the foo fighters play a show there is an article on rolling stone about it. Am I the only one who feels this way?

The Foo Fighters get media attention that is out of all proportion with their accomplishments as a band.  I personally don't know anybody who has purchased a Foo Fighters album in over 10 years.

Yes. I love FF, in fact I'd count them among my favourite bands, but the way the media endlessly kisses Dave Grohl's as* is cheesy and tiresome. Credit where credit's due, but every tiny thing they do is somehow considered news worthy, complete with exaggerated praise. Even as a huge fan I don't want to see that.

A lot of their high regard definitely comes from the fact that Dave Grohl is in the band. They're not as overpraised as Nirvana, but they are still a bit overpraised. Dave Grohl is probably the most talented Nirvana member, though.
