Why is prostitution illegal?

I heard it's just because it can't be taxed

    There are multiple reasons, partially depending on location.

    Historically, it's especially spread disease and social chaos.

    Yes! You are correct! Syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, granuloma inguinal, granuloma carcinoma, herpes, madness, sterility, and public health costs have NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with it. Brilliant, dude.
