Should I buy this AQH..?

So this is Tripin River, a 10 year appendix QH mare. She is a 1D-2D barrel horse, also is a good heel horse, and pole horse. Very laid back personality, but is super fast when she runs. She's priced at $6,500. What do you think? Does she look good to you?

She looks in good weight and fitness. I don't like the upright front pastern nor the weird bump on her wither. But your photo is not so easy to see things perfectly. Other than that I don't see anything glaring. She looks downhill in the photo but that could be the angle. You can't see well how her neck and shoulder tie together but it doesn't look bad.... I think she is priced too high, at least for my area but you will know if the price is right. In my area she would be 4-5K. I wouldn't quibble over a thousand dollars for purchase price if it was THE ONE. And, with a horse who has been successfully competed that much, I would get a thorough vetting and films. You just need to be careful to not get a horse who's beginning arthritis early or has other issues.

Be sure to ride her multiple times before purchase to be sure she rides as expected.

I would have a vet do a thorough pre-purchase exam, firstly, to be sure she's sound. She's kind of at that age where lameness will start to show up if she's got any soundness issues. This is around the age when things like Navicular or Ringbone start to appear. She's obviously not old, but in a barrel horse whose history I don't know, I would be putting a lot of focus on her legs.

She's got a nice pedigree and seems to have a really good history. Horses that have been used in sale barns tend to do really well in second careers because they've got such great brains. Kind of a been-there-done-that attitude.

    Have you ridden her yet?

(also, I will never cease to amaze myself with the way I always recognize Hancock relatives. I knew before I looked at her pedigree)

Not my style of horse and not really impressed with her conformation, but that's why she's a speed event horse and not a show horse.

$6500 is an awful lot of money for a 2d horse. I'd have a thorough vet check.

In my area you can get a mare like that for $2500.

Also, make sure you SEE the papers, get them in your hand before you hand cash over.

Terrible conformation shot. Why won't people take the time to stand their horses up properly....?

I'm not impressed. She's built downhill with a long back weakly coupled to goose-rumped quarters, longish cannon bones, upright pasterns, and ewe neck. (Can't tell much about her neck really, or her head, from that angle.) And those high withers are going to make saddle fitting a challenge. She does appear to have a decent shoulder, she's shiny, and her coat color is intriguing.

If this were a bomb-proof pleasure prospect for a child's first horse, I would consider her if she were reasonably priced (say $1,500 or less) but not for $6,500.

    Could use a better photo

At $6500 I'd ride her a couple times and get a vet check.

Rodeo stock may not always meet exact conformation guidelines and still be high performance horses.

Her neck has the big dip from the wither, meaning that she's improperly ridden. The muscles haven't properly been built up. Her back isn't exactly the best.

Shes fit. Good competetive rodeo mounts that are family freindly are worth big bucks. make sure shes as advertised and healthy in all ways.

You already own her, so why would you need to buy her? /question/index?qid=20150...

    Quit playing us, kid.

To AG: I recognized the horse. She's asking what breed it is in this question:

    /question/index?qid=20151...

She obviously knows, since she owns the horse. Playing us.
