Why is the Media Inconsistent on Race?

We have a President, whose Father is Black, and Mother is White, yet the Media always refers to him as the "first Black President. Okay, fine. But recently in Oregon, there was a mass murder (who will remain nameless), whose Father is White, and Mother is Black, yet, when the Media does refer to his race, they usually refer to him as being "mixed race". Why is that?

    I don't know why.

We try to make whites look bad and make non-whites look good I think. It's okay to make whites look bad, but if you are "making non-whites look bad" then your station will be shut down or something. It's just the double standards and hypocrisy that exists in our American society unfortunately.

Biracial and mixed race people are biracial and mixed race people. They are NOT just black and shouldn't be called just black, nor should they just be called white, but that rarely happens.

Obama is HALF black and HALF white, not "black."

Because white or black people do not want to be associated with anyone like that. But you're more kin to your father than your mother, soooo.....he got that mass killing gene from white people..:-)

This is clearly just a matter of semantics, and has no real bearing on the issues which they affect.
