What's the purpose of pricing something $9.99 when $10 is much more convenient?

    It's basically a mind trick... Even though it's only cheaper by one penny it looks and sounds better than $10 does.

    It's just to make it appear cheaper... People see the 9 and then think "Oh, it's under $10"

    It fools people into thinking something is cheaper than it is - people think it is under $10 not it is $10
