Do I qualify for section 8 housing in either NY or CT?

I m 21, and I work part time. I make about 12-14k a year.

I have a about a year left at my current residence(it s rent free) until I HAVE to move out. Problem is I can t afford any places around my area along with my monthly bills. I kind of need to stay near my area (westchester/Fairfield county) to be able to continue going to my current job.

You can afford to rent a room in that area. When you get a proper job you can find an apartment. If you are single you go to the bottom of the waitlist for Sec 8 and if they are even taking applications, the wait is 5 to 10 years.

    Two things....

    1. section 8 housing requires you to work at least 32 hours a week

    2. The wait list through the state is over 5 years long.

section 8 usually has a several YEAR long waiting list and a single person is rarely eligible - it's for families or single parents with children - you will never be able to live on your own with only a PT job - no place would ever approve you

One more to add to reenzz. Single applicants are WAY at the bottom of the list. Preference for a voucher is given to disabled, families, and elderly.
