Should I get a tattoo?
I'm a 16 year old girl, and just yesterday my cat died. It was very sudden and completely unexpected (coyotes), and I've been really really upset about it. I've been considering the idea of a tattoo for a little white now, but I never really felt like I had a reason until now. I want to get a small, simple cat tattoo somewhere to remember her, so that she'll always be with me. Some of my friends have tattoos (nothing big), but i'm still relatively young and I want to make sure I don't regret my decision. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I'm so sorry about your cat.
I don't think this is a tattoo you would regret, at all, but I would be worried about it. Your body is not done growing, and a special tattoo like this could be ruined by the simple act of you growing up. Not to mention it might not be legal in your state. Even if it is your parent must give written consent and sign many forms and paperwork. Then you have to find an artist to do it.
Wait until you are 18. In the mean time, you can create a really great design that will show off how much your loved your cat, and all the others you will have in the future.
Personally, i have some for my pets. i have gotten a paw print for each cat i have had. When they passed, I took a stamp pad and got a stamp of their paw, and tattooed that on my foot. I have 3 so far, and I plan to addo n to it with each cat I have. I'm more of a cat person, not much for dog, so I have plenty of space on my foot and ankle for all of the paw prints I plan to have. Something like this is nice, because its small, but each print is for each cat I have had, and each one is just a tiny bit unique. My fat cat had her toes spread out, and my siamese had very small paws. each print is unique, and I can remember each of them while still leaving plenty of space on my body for future work.

If you love cats then I don't see why not. But I think you should wait until you're 21, it's kind of a general rule for getting tattoos since by then you'll be an adult and the things you like now or find special may become meaningless later on. Remember it's going to be on you forever so why not wait a few more years? Also, sorry for your loss :(

My first Tattoo I got because I had been diagnosed with Severe Depression and a Anxiety Disorder. I had hallucinations chronic headaches and thoughts of suicide and I had been living with those things for years the day I finally went to get profesional help was the start of possible new hope for me so I decided that I would get a tattoo as a constant reminder to be brave and to be strong. Something I could always see and remind myself that i did something that terrified me and I got through it anyway.
My reason to get a tattoo was Because of a big turning point for me but I think that as long as you feel that it's important and it matters to you, than that is a good enough reason, but here's something you should ask yourself before getting a tattoo; is this something you want on your body everyday or something you want on a T-shirt or a braclet. You can always take those off at the end of the day but your tattoo is a perminent drawing on your skin.

I wanted tattoos since I was 18. I am now 31 and I still want the exact same things. Honestly, I don't think you'd regret something that meaningful. I say go for it! And I'm very, very sorry to hear about your loss. I have a kitty, and I know I'll be a mess when she goes.

There's more in this post about you wanting a tattoo then about the death of your cat. It sounds like your using your cats loss to take advantage of your parents. The 'ol "Daddy little girl" scheme. Just saying~!

If you want one, but you'll have to wait until you're 18. I'm very sorry about your cat :( I have one and someday hopefully a long time from now I'm getting her pawprint somewhere on me. So do what you want. Sorry for your loss

It would be best to put it in a place that can be covered so that it doesn't hinder you in getting a job later on in life.

I would wait and give it some more time, make sure it's not a purely emotional-fueled decision.

No, you are too small dear. You should complete at least your 21. Who knows up to that time your priorities will change. So do not hurry!
