FIRST AND FOREMOST: The longer side is length, and the shorter side is width.
Pythagorean Theorem is only for right triangles. For this, you would need to look at the ration in a length to width, or 8:6, which simplifies down to 4:3. As the length increases by 3, the ratio must be maintained, so 11 must be multiplied by 3:4, or the reciprocal. If I happened to mix up the numbers, forgive me.
