Musical theatre audition song help?
I m hoping to audition for a local musical theatre group, probably next month, and I m looking for an easy audition song. I ve got a lot of acting experience and I m a fairly strong dancer, but my singing voice isn t that great. I can carry a tune in a group just fine, but I m really not that confident as a soloist.
I m looking for a good audition song for a mid-range female voice that s going to get me into the company where I can then be in the chorus and not have to sing solo again! Any suggestions would be great.
ETA: I m currently thinking of Tell Her I Love Her from Urinetown or Happiness from You re A Good Man Charlie Brown, but I think they re a bit childish? (I m 28).

What musical are you trying out for? Pick the song that is most similar to the songs you have to sing if they actually cast you. Depending on the musical, you may really need to have stronger vocal skills than you think since you may be required to sing a harmony part, but not necessarily be anywhere near someone who is singing the same part as you. Other shows do require strong dance skills, and those you will have an advantage, especially if you can act, but again, depends on the show. Also, I don't know what you can or can't manage vocally, so I have no idea what specifically to suggest, other than those who will be auditioning you will certainly know if something is "easy" or not. That's why some auditions specifically request songs from the "Golden Age of Broadway".
