woodstock
hi! i'm 23 i live in the south- west of england 'woodstock' is my alter ego; the little yellow bird from the peanuts cartoons who speaks in expletives and is always bopping about. i like: ballet, tattoos, kings of leon, pretty hair clips, real vanilla ice cream, shoes. i dislike: broccoli, "am i pregnant?" questions, being sick, country music, other people's children. i do feel like i have been verified as a human being in the 'books and authors' section now having read the twilight series. which, despite my better judgement, i thought was rather good. i work as a director in a theatre, i also occasionaly act and dance but not so much in my old age! i also enjoy lighting design and stage management. i did a degree in english literature and will read most anything you put under my nose ;]
Musical theatre audition song help?
I m hoping to audition for a local musical theatre group, probably next month, and I m looking for an easy audition song. I ve got a lot of acting experience and I m a fairly strong dancer, but my singing voice isn t that great. I can carry a tune in a group just fine, but I m really not that confident as a soloist.
I m looking for a good audition song for a mid-range female voice that s going to get me into the company where I can then be in the chorus and not have to sing solo again! Any suggestions would be great.
ETA: I m currently thinking of Tell Her I Love Her from Urinetown or Happiness from You re A Good Man Charlie Brown, but I think they re a bit childish? (I m 28).
1 AnswerTheatre & Acting6 years agoI need a sibling name to go with Ilse and Lucien (Luc)?
For a brother, preferably something Germanic.
(Ilse is a girl's name, Luc is a boy. Just thought I'd add that!)
Not for a baby, I'm afraid, they're all characters in a novel I'm working on.
Thanks!
5 AnswersBaby Names8 years agoHow are musicians contracted for work?
I'm doing some research for a novel and looking for a little bit of personal experience, if possible.
If a musician is freelance, how do they get contracts to work for a symphony/ philharmonic/ ballet?
Do these more classical orchestras have 'in house' musicians? Would they be on a permanent contract?
Thanks for your help :)
4 AnswersClassical10 years agoJob interview/ illness etiquette?
Looking for a quick response here!!
I have a job interview in 5 hours.
Right now, I have a terrible, hacking cough which is coming around every few minutes. I don't know what is the best course of action; to call and see if it can be rearranged, or how I should act when I get there?
I should say that I don't have a cold, I'm not sneezing, I can speak normally and I'm dosed up to the eyeballs on cough medicine and cold & flu tablets. I have a box of Strepsils in my bag and I do really want the job! (I don't know if that makes any difference). Any help would be great. Thank you!!
4 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoI live in the UK and need a .com email address!?
Most of the big email providers are only giving me the option of a .co.uk email address. Is there any way I can 'cheat' the system and get a .com one? Preferably live or hotmail or msn (so I can forward email to the new address from an existing one).
Any help would be great.
Thanks.
5 AnswersMSN1 decade agocare of a white cotton blouse- bleach and starch?
I know I basically want to bleach and starch it to make it nice and white and crisp again, but I have no idea how to go about doing this! Can anyone give me some pointers?
Thank you!
2 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoAlternative for the name Raven (female)?
Not for baby naming purposes, unfortunately, but for character naming. I like the strong, sexy, powerful- possibly a tiny little bit mysterious tones I get from the name, but it doesn't fit with the character's last name (which has already been established by siblings and it's too much of a hassle for me to try and change it!)
Any suggestions?
11 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoWhat do you think of the name Oaklie for a little girl?
Possibly spelt Oakley. Okay, so two questions, do you like it, and which spelling?
Or do you prefer Lacey? Is that too common?
12 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agohelp with PC data transfer?
I have the following:
One dead laptop which won't turn on or run off battery power.
One shiny new laptop which has nothing on it.
One networking cable purchased from PC world.
I need to transfer all my files from said dead laptop to the shiny new laptop (most importantly my itunes library, but also lots of word documents, photos etc.) I really don't want to pay £60 for hard drive recovery at PC world! I don't know if they've sold me the right thing, if someone could give me very simplified instructions on how to drag the data from one laptop to the other I would be very, very grateful!
Thanks =]
3 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoTwilight- Bella's bracelet; but a really nice one?!?
It's my cousin's birthday in a few weeks and she's a massive Twilight fan (as am I!) and I wanted to get her a replica of Bella's bracelet from the Twilight books, with the wooden wolf and heart crystal charms on it. Does anyone know where I can get a really nice one? Some of the ones I've seen on eBay look quite tacky and don't have good clasps, and the wolf looks more like a horse. I live in the UK, don't mind paying for postage if it's a US based company and it's worth it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Any religion, not just Christianity. And not Saint Christopher, I've thought of him already! Thank you!
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHas anyone used a 'how to' or 'idiots guide' style book for writing?
If so, how useful did you find it? I've studied creative writing before, so know more than just the basics, and was wondering if it was worth investing in one to help me polish my work. Or if I should just get a good editor. Any suggestions?
5 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat do you think was missing from Twilight?
I'm interested to know what Twilight fans thought was missing from either the series in general, or more specifically from the first novel. What did you want to happen that didn't? What do you think should have happened differently?! What would you change if you got Stephenie Meyer to rewrite you your own personal version of it (without changing Bella's name to yours- that's just cheating!)
22 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoDancers- easy points!?
I need a little help from dancers for market research purposes (!).... My step dad is a carpenter/ joiner and has made me a rehearsal ballet barre so I can practise some stuff at home. We're thinking of selling them; the barres are hand made and varnished, designed for the individual dancer and weighted properly. They would cost about £45 (approx $65 USD). Would you (as a dancer) be interested in buying one? Why, or why not?
10 easy points for most helpful answer! Thank you!!!
8 AnswersDancing1 decade agoJapanese fish design for a tattoo...?
I would like a Japanese koi or goldfish design for a tattoo, but in pale blue, cream/ white and gold/ yellow instead of the more traditional orange and yellow. Does anyone have any good photos or designs I could borrow? Thanks very much! Jx
7 AnswersTattoos1 decade agoHelp with Lion King costumes?
A dance class I'm with have put together a contempory dance inspired by the Broadway version of Circle of Life (I've put a link to it below). We need costumes! We don't want to look like little children in furry outfits, but also don't have a huge budget to put something together with. Any suggestions?! Thanks :)
1 AnswerDancing1 decade agoQuestion for choreographers...?
What sort of music makes you want to just get working? What really inspires you? When I hear some songs I just want to grab a load of dancers and start choreographing stuff, and there's no real rhyme or reason for it!
1 AnswerDancing1 decade agoMidnight Sun... to read or not to read?!?
I've read the other books in the series and thought they were quite good, I know you can read Midnight Sun online and I don't know if I should wait for the official version to be printed, or cheat and read the draft copy?! Has anyone read it and was disappointed?

So... you get a phone call... you've passed the auditions... and have been offered the part of either Elphaba or Galinda. You get to choose. Which part do you take?!
