The crooked U.S. Government knows exactly what it's doing..
Dictatorships America supports: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Oman, UAE..
In these countries, no pressure to democratize, as these dictators are obedient. They can brutalize their people all they want, keep women from driving cars and even, as the case with the Saudi regime, set up radical Islamic madrassa (schools) all across the world.
Then you have Saddam, Gaddafi, Assad, etc..
These dictators are not obedient to America/Israel; they refuse to bow to Western domination. So they are dealt with by highlighting their brutality and calls for democracy and eventually attacks against them in order to overthrow them and hope that another American puppet will take their place, and America can expand it's domination of the region.

Both mainstream Democrats and mainstream Republicans want intervention in the Middle East. There should be a reverse Monroe Doctrine- to keep America from interfering in the Eastern Hemisphere.

What is very true is that in that region, dictators who rule with an iron fist get everyone's attention equally. We never should have overthrown Saddam, we should have left the Arab Spring alone.
Like it or not, those people only understand one thing, crushing brutality. You know seriously in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, before we messed around with them, Christians and in some cases Jews lived in society and led normal lives. Why because the radical Muslims knew better than to mess with those dictators. Oh they would occasionally cause trouble, but they didn't behead people in public and burn temples because they knew if they did they would get their *** kicked in

I agree entirely. Western governments have been peopled by those weaned on the pot-fumed flower power of the 60s. Common sense totally overwhelmed by an ethos of mindless "niceness." Well, political correctness is being put to an acid test in Europe right now. We either "nicely" submit to yet another Muslim invasion of Europe, or we say "Phuque political correctness. We like our turf the way it is. You intruders come unarmed, so we can't shoot you down, but you come uninvited, so we'll keep our doors locked."

Libya was no different than Iraq.
You remove the dictator and the other insurgent groups try to fill the power void.

Not worse, but not better either. It's a different sort of brutal chaos.
