You really need to stop listening to those preachers on the streets. The only way to get straight doctrines is to read them yourself.

"Repent" means to think back. It has no other significance, just think.

"Eternal" means no beginning and no end. Only God is eternal.

"Soul" is a Hebrew concept, a synonym for a living breathing creature. A soul lives from first breath to last breath. Your soul does not get saved.

Saved means made whole. Man was originally a three part creature: body, soul, and spirit. When Adam ate the forbidden fruit, it was the spirit that died. When Jesus died on the cross and was raised from the dead, he became a spirit, and people who believe the gospel get a portion of that spirit, so they are made whole. It is the spirit that lives forever.

Read a chapter of Proverbs every day. Proverbs has 31 chapters so you can keep your place by just looking at a calendar. There is no religion or nothing in Proverbs and you don't have to believe anything. Just read every day. When you are comfortable with that, then read the bible from Romans to 2 Thessalonians over and over until you start to remember what it says. That is the part that applies to Christians.

repentance is not necessary for anyone. the spirit is meant to live eternally. however the bible does say that God can destroy both body and spirit. and spirit is the more correct word to use. i.e. a living soul is defined as a spirit joined to a body.

repentance is necessary for the case of an eternal soul, just like here in mortality, if we make mistakes, and sin grievous sins! the consequences can follow mortals till they die. sometimes even until after they die. what do you think and immortal and eternal person will face if they make eternal sins with eternal consequenses?

we need to learn how to be eternal being even with an immortal body. besides, sinners cant enter heaven. even by the grace of Jesus. the righteous barely enter heaven, and no unclean thing can enter heaven. so we need the repentance, we need the atonement of christ and we need to learn to obey and forsake our sins.

However, baptism is not a mere bath. It is a symbol of something very important. Going beneath the water symbolizes that you have died to your former life course. Being raised up out of the water indicates that you are now alive to do the will of God. Remember, too, that you have made a dedication to Jehovah God himself, not to a work, a cause, other humans, or an organization. Your dedication and baptism are the beginning of a very close friendship with God—an intimate relationship with him.—Psalm 25:14.

Baptism does not guarantee salvation. The apostle Paul wrote: “Keep working out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12) Baptism is only a beginning. The question is, How can you remain in God’s love? Our final chapter will provide the answer.

    WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES

Christian baptism involves complete immersion in water, not just sprinkling.—Matthew 3:16.

Steps leading to baptism begin with coming to know Jehovah and Jesus and showing faith followed by repentance, conversion, and the dedicating of oneself to God.—John 17:3; Acts 3:19; 18:8.

To make a dedication to Jehovah, you must disown yourself, even as people disowned themselves to follow Jesus.—Mark 8:34.

Baptism symbolizes dying to one’s former way of life and becoming alive to do God’s will.—1 Peter 4:2.

    Revelation 2:5

Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
