Who should be responsible if something fails within warranty?

I purchased a product of amazon about 2 years ago. A computer processor. Recently the processor failed on its own. Literally just wouldn't work one day. When I purchased the product it came with a 3 year warranty and of course as it was done over amazon I still have the receipt and proof of the warranty.

I contacted the seller and there basically saying I need to talk to the manufacturer. I said its something they need to sort out not the manufacturer as I brought it from them and told them this was backed up by the sales of goods act.

Theyve contacted me saying what Im saying is right only if its up to two years. So if it failed within two years they'd rectify the issue....anything after..its the manufacturer.

Are they lying through their teeth and what should I do?

The warranty covers defects that existed at the time of sale. It does NOT cover overheating due to inadequate ventilation because you blocked the vents on the case.

Note: The MANUFACTURER'S warranty is ALWAYS between you and the manufacturer. It is NEVER the retailer's responsibility.

If ANYONE is lying, it is the MORON that told you it was ever they responsibility of ANYONE other than the manufacturer. In the case you describe, the processor failed due to YOUR actions, and NO ONE is liable to replace it.

post your location; seems not in the US.

in the US, what you describe is warranty fraud.

    i'd contact Amazon Legal dept.

in the US, i'd keep detailed records & goto small claims court if necc.

i've been successful there, netting a few $1,000.

If you want to get it fixed, you'll talk to the manufacturer. Otherwise, buy a new one.
