I just edited together a montage of Dan and Phil jump scares and was wondering is it illegal to post it to YouTube because of copyright?

Yes, it is probably an infringement of the copyright of each and every clip you duplicated and used in a "derivative" work. You could try to get the required licenses from the copyright owners, if you don't want to be sued and banned from YT for life.
