a bathtub contains 20 gallons of water. if it empties in 4 minutes what is the rate of flow of the water per minute?

I'm not sure how to work the out can you please explain?

    20/4= 5 gallons per minute.

    not a good question...the flow rate could be given by [ 5t / 2 ] , for t in [ 0 , 4 ]...

    integrating this over t in [ 0 , 4 ] yields 20 , the amount being emptied...so the question should have indicated that the rate was a constant { the 5 gal/min }...or [ 15 t² / 8 ]..or..
