ABCD is a trapezoid with AB parallel to DC. If m<D= 56 and m<C= 81. Find m<A?

The answer is 124, how do you solve it though?

    Since AB and DC are parallel

    <A and <D are supplementary . That is they add up to 180 degrees

    See the following study page for parallel lines, which indicates "If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, the interior angles on the same side of the transversal are supplementary."

    <A + <D = 180

    <A = 180 - <D = 180- 56 = 124 Degrees

    <A = 124 degrees

    Note this answer assumes the trapezoid is like this .
