My betta is having trouble eating pellets. It seems like he has bad eye sight. He tries and tries and is only sometimes successful.?

I had a near blind Betta before. It helped to:
1. Always feed in the same spot
2. Purchase a "Betta Hammock" from the pet store and place it about 1.5" from the top of the water level and use that as a feeding dish.
3. Tap the glass prior to feeding and wait for him to swim to the spot with the leaf hammock to prepare him for eating.
4. Crush the pellets prior to feeding and feed the larger crushed bits so he'd have less trouble picking them up.

He doesn't sond very healthy.
Even if he was blind, he should not have that much trouble finding food.
Is he in at least a 5 gallon heated filtered tank? have you given him at least a week to settle in?
Have you tried a variety of foods? Get some frozen blood worms and brine shrimp, and an eyedropper. Use the eye dropper to feed him a tiny bit of unthawed worms or shrimp. get new life spectrum betta pellets, a lot of cheeper foods are full of grains the are not the least bit nutritious for bettas. Also , never feed them freeze dried worms and shrimp and stuff!

I would place the fish in a bag with water from tank and take it to a good pet store that sells fresh and saltwater fish. Ask them if the fish is good health or if it needs some kind of medicine.
