Resident Evil Apocalypse: Anyone else not like that in the video games,Jill Valentine was the main gal not she is not?(see details) thanks?

I played the Resident Evil video games for the ps1 and ps2. So I recall that the main character was Jill Valentine, so why did the resident evil movie, Apocalypse, make her seem so weak and not as bad as* as she is in the games? Is it because of

    Resident Evil Films have no connection to the movies, characters based off their video game counterparts are usually nothing like the Capcom series including Albert Wesker.
