What do i need to further my business?
I'm looking into hiring some seasonal employees for my property maintenance business.
Currently a family ran/operated business so we didn't have a need for workers comp.
But now, since we've grown it's time for a couple employees.
Employee's would be using gas powered equipment and ladders.
So now it's time for workers comp but i'm curious how much it would add to my running costs if anyone knows. Only need 2 employees
Would i need a training program for the equipment and ladders?
Also business is from Ontario Canada

WCB is automatic in almost all provinces in Canada. If you paid yourself... you would be required to pay WCB -- either the company needs to pay it for salaries employees (whether family or not) or the self-employed individual needs to pay it as part of their self-employment contributions to CRA. Someone should really be looking at your payroll and individual tax returns.
WCB will be automatic in most provinces. It is typically a percentage of pay... normally 1%-2% or so. Employers must submit it.
Whether you want to train employees in the use of power tools is up to you -- and typically your insurance company. Most insurance companies will require proof that you have WCB and proof that employees meet specific WCB safety standards -- equipment, googles, boots, clothing, work hours, lighting, etc. Work places with tools typically fall under WCB regulations in terms of these.

Smart informed employers design a training program with the FULL understanding that kids/people are idiots who given the chance can/will injure, kill themselves other employees or property.
Workman compensation insurance varies Greatly. Ask local insurance companies for actual info.
