Ronda Rousey VS. Holly Holm?
We were all shocked to see Ronda Rousey lose her first MMA fight to boxing champion Holly Holm. So what went wrong? Any thoughts, comments, speculations?
I was going for Holly she has something about her you just have to love! I figured if anyone had a chance it was Holly!
While Rousey isn't my favorite (that would be Holly) I'm not going to bag n her. She I still a great fighter she just met someone better then her and Ronda underestimated her.

It was awesome to see an arrogant, over confident person like Ronda Rousey get pummeled by a class act like Holly.
I think Rousey seriously underestimated Holly Holm. Holm's boxing experience really paid off and that kick was epic.
My favorite moment was the wild punch thrown by Rousey that Holm easily dodged. It left Rousey looking confused and punch drunk.
Go Holly!!!

I think Ronda was trying to keep up her hype of finishing fights quickly and dominating people. She finally found someone that presented a challenge and she wasn't sure how to handle it. I'm not sure if they planned anything beforehand but her strategy was awful. She was chasing and striking with a well accomplished boxer. Even after it was clear her strategy wasn't working, she kept going with it
1. She should have never been chasing after she couldn't immediately drop Holly.
2. She shouldn't have been striking with a boxer of Holly's caliber. She should have tried more of her ground game.
3. She should have realized at least after the first round that her strategy wasn't working and tried a different tact.
People say Ronda isn't actually a good fighter and all this jazz. I think she's a great fighter, but she went into this fight unprepared and cared more about her reputation of taking opponents out quickly. If she could have taken her ego out of the equation she would have had an even chance.

Holly Holm was a professional boxer before entering ufc. Ronda Rousey is only used to kick and takedowns, she wasent prepared for hard and fast punches to the face. And the fact that she is used to 0:30 seconds to 4:00 minute fights. I think she thought Holly Holm was a kickboxer instead of a boxer.

Holly is a kind, likable, but robotically stupid, physically strong fighter, and Ronda, while being extremely talented and capable, is a royal pain in the ***, with questionable moral fiber. Ultimately, the two fighters were equally skilled, but Ronda had given up the mental aspect of the fight, for some reason. It looks like Holly was holding back some secret, or was too stupid to not lose this sort of a competition. People like her will give up the technical aspect of martial arts, for a more brute-force approach to a fight. Ronda was trying to come off as much more threatening than she actually was, when she actually let herself soften up big time. I blame it on her trainers and advisors. Holly, however, has the better vibe as a person, and will get fully physical if she needs to, but Rousey will approach a fight and try to wait for her own energy to kick in. She gave up that energy to Holly in the fight, because she could not match her level of passion, efficiency, and willingness to make the big steps towards winning in the fight. Rousey is a big under-investor when it comes to martial arts, and will not make the step to defy expectations, so naturally, she will lose.

Ronda just ran into a fighter who is as good if not better then her. Holly is a kick boxing champ and a boxing champ. This is not just another girl from nowhere. Holly Did what I thought she would do. She took the fight to ronda and hit her in the face and from there ronda was like oh **** this girl hit me like a man...lol. Congrats holly New Mexico is so so proud of you. NEXT!.

Overconfidence, a camp more skilled in grappling than striking, hype brought on by herself and others... It was a number of things. Ronda has never faced someone with striking like Holly, and most of the grapplers she faced were not on the same level as her. I wasn't sure how Holly's grappling defense would fare, but I expected the standup to go well for her of course.
Holly won fair and square. Hats off to her. I hope Ronda finds a better camp.

Simple: Ronda shouldn't have chased Holly around the ring. Holly used an easy and effective Mayweather tactic: run around until your opponent is exhausted. Ronda should've stayed put and said: "if you want the championship, come and get it." I'm not sure what was going on with Ronda mentally/emotionally but she was completely out of it.

Maybe Ronda didn't take her seriously coupled with Holly taking it very seriously. Holly fought her fight.I'm happy for Holly sad for Ronda. Holly did not show anything that would of made me think she could beat Ronda. I'm very surprised. Just like Gus vs Jones.

Holly is a very smart fighter. She didn't let Rowdy get close to her because she's studied Ronda's intelligence.
Ronda is still one of the greatest fighters to me, because she set the record straight for WOMENS ufc. She was way too mad from the beginning because of what happened at Weight Ins. Her confidence is truthfully over the top, but that's just how Ronda is. BOTH are excellent fighters. Proud of both contestants.

Ronda did the same she always does, but this time her opponent had prepared. Physically, and skill wise, Holly was already a very good match to Rousey's style. Further, she did everything perfect in the cage, while Ronda, despite losing the first round, was incapable to adapt and change her game in the second round. I dont think she is the one to blame for it, its more difficult to think in the heat of the fight than it seems, however, what were her trainers doing? Were they blind or what? Cheers to Holly, excellent fighter, and best wishes to Ronda, fallen legend who must recover.
