How can LED light manufacturers claim that their product lasts 20 years or more? They surely haven't waited that long.?

They could be lying, but more likely they are using industry standard stress tests with higher voltages and operating temperatures to represent accelerated aging time.

Such testings are done in controlled environment so that the use in a limited time period equals the normal fatigue expected in a longer time period.
