If you live in Great Britain and wanted to go on holiday for a week, or maybe a long weekend, but didn't want to leave the British Isles, where would you go?

There are so many places to choose from. My recent UK holidays have seen me in the Black Mountains on the Wales / England border, in Snowdonia and Shropshire, while I have also had city breaks in Manchester and Liverpool. I have been all over England and Wales (much less so in Scotland and Ireland, though I have been) as well as many countries around the world and I can confidently say that our cities, countryside, culture and history can stand with the very best of them.
Where any individual should go depends entirely on what they like, and the British Isles can offer everything except what is impossible for the climate (e.g. a rainforest).

Really depends on what type of holiday you want/like... British Isles have lots to choose from, ROI /NI I love, Devon is a favourite, I have friends in Scotland and I have travelled all over the British Isles and there are places I love to return to and still more to see

Here are a few candidates:
(1) The far west of Cornwall, for example the holiday cottage available to rent at Rosemergy on Land's End peninsula. Here there is stunning coastal scenery - clifftop walks and superb beaches.
(2) Purbeck in Dorset for more stunning coastal scenery especially between Swanage and Weymouth. This is part of he World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast.
(3) The Lake District in Cumbria for some of the best scenery in the world.
We are lucky to have lots of wonderful places not just in England but also in Wales (eg The Gower, The Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia National Parks), Scotland (eg The Western Highlands, The islands) and Northern Ireland (eg the Giant's Causeway).
My personal preference is Cornwall.

There a lots of places depending on what I would want to do and why I was going - I love the Devon coast - both north and south and Lime Regis in Dorset but then again I have had great holidays in Yorkshire, Wales and Norfolk so you need to think about what you want and then match that to part of the UK that offers those attractions

I would go to the Tyne & Wear area. There is lots to do and see. If you stay in Newcastle, you can ride along the bike paths around town or take a short ride on the Metro out to Tynemouth for the seaside. A few miles from Newcastle is the Angel of the North sculpture. Hadrian's Wall is also in the area. You can also check out Sunderland.

I would and do go to my holiday home near Ludlow. Ludlow is a beautiful medieval town and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in England - The Long Mynd, The Stiperstones, Wenlock Edge, Mortimer Forest

A Holiday for me is NOT seeing or speaking to anyone - the furtherest I went during my last week off work was the bottom of the drive to put the bin out and I spoke to NO ONE.

I'd go see as much as the South Coast as possible . But not during these dark months which last until around March .
