Why is my dad so mean?

I told him that I want a $50 XBox 360 with two games for Christmas (the price turned out to be $117), and he said NO. He said that I need to be more responsible, and then he was gloating about how he "used to mow the lawn when he was younger than me" and all this other crap. Then, he brings up something from A YEAR AGo when I made and posted a YouTube video. HELP!

Update:

I raked leaves yesterday, and I mowed the lawn. I even shoveled the driveway, and you know what I got? A dollar.

Refusing to buy you what you want,

no matter what you have done or not done,

is NOT a definition of "mean".

Mowing lawns is not crap; it is decent, respectable work,

something most kids used to do a lot more of before there were such things as video games.

My advice for you is to stop complaining

    and start mowing lawns.

And no, I'm not a father, although

I do think a lot like one sometimes.

Lol that is not being mean. Here is what you do:

    Mow some lawns

    Rake some leaves

    Shovel some snow

Earn the $117 and go buy I yourself. You just might appreciate I a bit more.

That's not being mean. That's him being a good dad and doing his job.

My dad's a hard working car mechanic in his 50s. I've worked with him fixing cars in my spare time and have purchased my own phone, built my own computer, my own PS3, etc...

Stop being immature, and learn about the value of hard work.

Guess you don't like the truth?

Get a job and buy your own XBox. That's what he's really telling you. I'm guessing though that the price had something to do with why he was being so snarky. He probably can't afford to buy people gifts that cost over $100 each.

Buy it yourself. If you have no money, mow a few lawns.

Your dad is a smart man. You're spoiled.

I am picturing you stomping your feet with your little fists clenched while throwing this temper tantrum. Grow up, earn your own money.
