How good is the average person at being "the bigger person" when someone does them wrong?

Update:

I've seen some overwhelming mixed messages in American society. In many cases, I see vindictive justifications, but in some cases, I have observed an almost unanimous agreement that "taking the higher road" is better.

Update 2:

In your opinion, what types of scenarios encourage a more "Forgiving" attitude and which ones tend to provoke less forgiving attitudes, when it comes to social and moral offenders?

    9/10 people will say that they are good at being the "bigger person" but in reality not very many people will be the bigger person when presented with the opportunity

    I think people should be bigger more than they are now.
