It can be hard to put money aside, especially at this time of year when you want to buy gifts or eat out to celebrate the holidays. I did struggle with bills for a long time.... and old car and elderly sick cats cost a lot of $$ but now I'm better off.

Of course and since I am retired it is allmost impossible. I don't put money in savings regularly when I was younger and employed but I think one of my Thanksgiving resolutions will be to start. Even if it is just a little, it is better than nothing. Yes you save first and spend what is left...or not.

Save first, then spend what is left.
Many people spend first and then save what is left, but there is often very little left.

No. I automatically have part of my pay saved for me (some in my 401(k), some into a bank account), so I never have to worry about it.

learning to save and have it become a habit usually starts in childhood it is easier for those of us who learned this young, I have always been a saver and am careful when I spend, anyone can become a saver it takes practice, self discipline, and you need to look forward to and enjoy seeing a bank account grow.
