I'm interested in buying a used Saab, is it a good idea or not especially with the company not around anymore in the US?
There are a number that I've seen for sale at used dealers, and I've always liked them.

Do you know why SAAB is no longer around in the US? It's because the company no longer exists. It stopped production in 2011. A Chinese-led group bought SAAB the following year with plans to restart the automaker but it also ran into troubles and went bust last year.
What does this mean? It means SAAB replacement parts will become increasingly difficult to find. The one thing that may help is that GM owned SAAB since the 90's so there was some sharing of parts and can still be sourced from GM.
While a SAAB may be unique brand of cars, I think the trouble of finding a reliable parts source and knowledgeable service will only become increasingly difficult as years pass. I suggest passing...

you can still get most parts after market. but if need special parts then you'll have to make them as what we're doing now for a Saab in our shop (wiring harness for transmission /neutral safety switch) customer destroyed most of the wiring installing another engine in it. but if I were you I would pass on getting it

It's not the safest choice of vehicle around, but most of them were good fun to drive, and replacement parts are not an issue for now.
