buying printer ink?

I have a Brother printer the model is MFC - J5910DW. A little sticker on the front of the printer says to use LC-79XXL or LC75XL for best results.

What does the LC... mean? can i use products with a different LC number? for example LC1280XL?

    No, it will not work. Ink cartridges are printer specific. They may look alike and fit in the printer carriage, but the electrical contacts will not match up. Ink cartridges will only work on the printers that they were designed for. It could also damage the heads and printer circuitry

    When buying ink, you should look at the compatible printers.
