That sounds like a bad idea.

First: Horse riding requires some balance. If you are drunk, at some point you'll end up falling and cracking open your skull against the road. Also the horse might run into ongoing traffic, or run a red light/stop signs and cause a multiple fatality crash, and assuming you survive, you would go to jail.

Second: Even if you are not driving, you are still intoxicated in a public road. So you still could be charged with public intoxication, even if there were no law forbidding riding a hoarse while intoxicated.

There was a famous case a few years ago in Texas. A man got a DUI riding a horse home from a bar at 1:00 AM. The man argued that he was just a passenger, that the horse knew the way home. It didn't go over. The judge upheld the DUI.

I think you are actually allowed to ride while intoxicated in some states. Maybe some counties. In Arizona especially. Maricopa county probably not because of all the traffic. But Yuma county, or Mojave county up north - yeah, I could see it being ok to be drunk while riding a horse as long as the horse knows the way home.

As long as you're not intoxicated.
