Could you kill the average mountain lion bare-handed?
So there's a park in Cali where many people have been attacked - and some even killed - by mountain lions. It got me wondering, are people that fragile against large cats or are they being caught offguard is that how they go down so easy? Not that I'm Hercules, but if a Mountain Lion wants a chunk of me he's going to have to put in a full day's work is all I'm saying. So could YOU kill a mountain lion, or at least defend against one?

Cougars will attack from behind, if they do attack, and it will be very difficult to defend yourself in that case. If you attack the cougar from behind, you would have a better chance. It would probably escape.
I did read of a man who was hunting wild turkey, he was lying down in full camouflage and blowing a turkey call, and a cougar pounced on him, thinking he was a turkey. He yelled and thrashed and struck the cat with his elbows, and it ran away. Case of mistaken identity.
Cougars, like most cats, do not like a confrontation. If you see it first, it won't attack you. Unless it thinks you are a threat to its cubs. If you see one stalking your child in the yard, yell and chase it away.
If you make noise while traveling through cougar country, the cougars will generally get out of your way.
But running away from one is worse than useless. Running will stimulate the predatory instinct. Face the cat, stand tall, and scream at it.

A fully grown mountain lion would dispatch you with ease. You have no defence against four sets of claws and teeth that would tear your throat out.

no you can't they may not weight that much but they have far more muscle than you ever will. Their jaws can snap your neck. Not to mention your claws would rip you apart.You THINK you could give a mountain lion a tough fight but you're wrong. no amount of punching is going to hurt it.

Possible for some of the fittest but you are going to get hurt bad.
A number of people have fought them off, but think your house cat from pure hell only 10 times bigger.
Days gone by, I might be able to hold one off, but not now.

mountain lion can grow over 200lb, running over 40mph. Just image a thing this heavy and this fast charging at you with claws to grab and canine tooth to bite...do you really think you have a chance? you know..human use weapons and build walls for reasons...

you are vastly underestimating the speed and ferocity of a mountain lion attack.

Kill one I doubt it you could probably defend yourself though although probably not barehanded
