Why is there only laws that protect women from abuse, but not laws that protect men from abuse?

In America, there is the Violence Against Women Act of 1994, making it a hate crime for a man to assault a woman. There is no similar hate crime law for men.
Now, nobody should be assaulting anybody, I agree. And I don't feel sorry for a piece of crap man who has the book thrown at him for hitting a woman.
My beef is with the double standard. When a woman hits a man, it is assault. When a man hits a woman, he can be charged with a hate crime, which brings additional punishments than mere assault does. Bill Clinton is responsible for bringing this law into fruition. Now you can see why I have a problem with the democratic party. They patronize women for their votes.
And that answers the question. Women are protected with laws in order to secure their vote. They make up 51% of the population, so they represent a bigger voting bloc. Democrats toss out treats (like hate crime laws) in order to sucker women into voting for them.
Political manipulation at its finest.

There are, only they are just called laws. If your being abused you call a cop. The special law for women is because men were ignoring the regular laws. We have to many laws to begin with.

Laws against assault are to get justice for everyone who is assaulted but they don't really protect anyone from it happening in the first place.
