If someone is part of the USMC air wing, were they originally Navy or Air Force?

    USMC Air Wing is part of the USMC and it's members are 100% USMC from enlistment and commission day. There may me some Navy attached, corpsmen, chaplain and aviation liaison, etc., but the vast majority are USMC.

    No. You can be a Marine Corps Pilot and never have been in the Air Force or Navy.

    The Marine Corp is within the Department of the Navy.

    USMC is a branch of Dept of Navy, They go to same flight school and all aviation schools. I worked with marines in my Navy squadron.

    First clue Marine Pilots are Naval Aviators. After TBS Marine Corp pilots report to NAS Pensacola for flight training...........
