What would happen if Donald Trump announced a ban on gun owners?

We would laugh at him because he does not have the authority to ban ANYTHING except maybe smoking on the premises of his place(s) of business.

Were he able, by some sick twist of fate that left him supreme dictator of the U.S., to actually announce a credible ban on firearms he's fall out of favor pretty quickly. Considering 1 in 3 Americans (that's 106 million people) owns a firearm according to a recent study, it's not bloody likely he would be successful. Polls of military and law enforcement personnel show a majority would not support mass disarmament, either.

It would, in effect, be an empty threat.

Just like his threats to ban Muslims or make them wear little yellow star with the word Jude--I mean Muslim--printed prominently on it, or however the hell he intends to "identify" mulsims . He can't legally do it, nor would most of us rational gun-toting Americans actually tolerate such a dangerous precedent to be set.

If Donald Trump announced a ban on gun owners, he would lose his support base. I suspect most of the people who support him are bigoted rednecks with big gun collections and a lot of hatred against non-Christian religions and women who are not bimbos.

I think it unlikely that would be a constitutional infringement he would support.
