Since I started my job in August, I have just realised that I have been paid 25p less an hour than I agreed to start on. Where do I stand?

So my manager emailed me when I got the job explaining the starting pay and that I would get a pay review after 3 months.

I have now realised (as there were other queries regarding my pay) that I have been paid less than I agreed to start on. It's only 25p an hour less but if you add this up for the hours I have worked I have been underpaid over £100.00.

I have never been given a contract. Where do I stand with this? I checked the email and I am definitely right.

You seem to be accusing the company of cheaing you. Have you queried this with your payroll dept. Humans make mistakes and press the wrong button on the computer far more often than they deliberately rob people.

Have you passed the probationary period? If so, you could mention it to the manager or HR. Without something in writing, you can't put up much of a fight. You'll have to rely on their good auspices.

    Mistakes happen, talk to Payroll.

You need to discuss this with your manager and show him your pay stubs and the e mail showing the starting pay. He should be able to correct the issue and get you the back pay.
