What are the houseboat regulations in Chicago?
The citie's municipal code mentions something about a houseboat liscences gives no further details on the subject on how to apply for one or what the regulations for theem are.
A long itme ago we had quite a few jury rigged shacks on our rivers but im sure things have changed since then as there arent any left (that I know of).

I bet your looking at an outdated code. A house boat would fall under boats. I think the legal term is "water vessel". And then the overall length determines how much you pay to register it. All boats over 12 feet must be registered.
Your not allowed to tie your boat off at the Chicago River. They have regulations about were and when you can tie off your boat. In Chicago that's a big problem. Boat slips cost a lot of money in Chicago. I live in Michigan, and I know a lot of people who drive 2 hours to save many thousand in slip fees.
